bdaypheus
smol warning for ya
Connecting your Slack account to this bot creates a personal Slack access token tied to your account. Here's exactly what that means.
What it can do
- Read the name, topic, and full member list of every channel you are in.
- Create a private planning channel as you when you pick "Create a new private channel" in
/bdaypheus, so you are its channel manager, then add the bot to it.
What it can't do
- Everything not listed under "What it can do". No reading messages, no posting as you, nothing else.
Why?
The bot can only see the member lists of public channels and ping groups. If you want to invite people from a private channel (say, a private channel of your friends), the bot can't see who's in it.
To fix that, you can go through a Hack Club Auth + Slack auth flow that gives the bot your personal Slack token, used only to read the members of private channels you're in and to create planning channels for you. That's it! More on why.
How to revoke it
- Run
/unlink-bdaypheusin Slack. This revokes the token and deletes it from the bot. - Or remove it yourself: Slack → your apps → Bday Bot → Remove.
After revoking, the next time the bot needs to read a private channel you're in, it'll just ask you to connect again.
